Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court has stayed until further orders grant of mining lease to several persons in Kumbalghatta ranges by the then Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
The petitioner, Prema Chennappa of Davangere, had alleged that Mr. Kumaraswamy had misused the owners of his office in granting mining lease to some party workers. She had urged the court to stay the mining lease. She said the lease was granted on October 8, 2007 by Mr. Kumaraswamy in violation of the mining rules and of several provisions of the law.
Justice S. Abdul Nazir ordered issue of notices to the State Government and other respondents and stayed till further orders.
