Eviction notices served on assigned land farmers
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: In spite of stiff opposition from farmers to Jindal’s Aluminium factory at Boddavara in S.Kota mandal the district administration is going ahead with acquisition of lands.
As part of it Revenue officials on Monday served eviction notices on 237 assigned land farmers of Cheedipalem, China Khandepalli, Kiltampalem, Moola Boddavara and Mushidipalli, according to Tehsildar Manorama.
The administration had identified 866 acres (approximately) of assigned land-- Cheedipalem 135 acres, China Khandepalli 84 acres, Kiltampalem 359 acres, Moola Boddavara 253 acres and Mushidipalli 34 acres -- out of 1,127 acres in these villages. Some 427 farmers would get notices in phases and they would be asked to submit objections, if any, within a fortnight.
The farmers had already made it clear that they would not allow Jindal to set up plant on their lands and the notices served on them this morning would likely to stir the hornet’s nest.
