Thrissur: In a step apparently seeking to ensure the electoral clout of the community in the State, the Catholic Archdiocese here has issued directions to all priests under it to ensure that names of all parishioners are enrolled in the electoral rolls. According to Vicar General of the Archdiocese, Fr Raphael Thattil, vicars of about 300 parishes had been directed to see that all eligible persons were enrolled as voters in their respective constituencies without fail. He said no political meaning was to be read in this decision as it was done with the purpose that no eligible person should miss the opportunity to vote. “This has been done so that no one should miss the opportunity to vote.”— PTI
