This Day That Age
A meeting of Congress members of Parliament from Madras State was convened on November 19 at Parliament House to discuss adjustments and pruning, if necessary, of the various Second Plan projects and schemes in Madras State, in view of the present foreign exchange difficulties. It was stated at the meeting that there would not be any major change in respect of any of the schemes. All hydro-electric projects like Kundah, Periyar etc. will be pushed through according to the Plan. It is understood that the mining of lignite and the thermal power station will be implemented in the Neyveli Project. The agreement with Russia on a long-term deferred payment credit of 500 million roubles covers the thermal power station as well as the lignite processing project.
