Bettering power transmission
Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A full board meeting of the Kerala State Electricity Board on Tuesday approved a new master plan for upgrading the power transmission network in Thiruvananthapuram drawn up to meet the demands of the developments expected in the region in the near future.
The master plan was conceived in the context of the proposal to set up an international container transhipment terminal at Vizhinjam and the expansion programme being undertaken at the Technopark in addition to the increasing commercial activity in the region. The first phase of the plan envisages the setting up of a 200-MVA transformer at the major sub-station at Pothencode on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. The sub-station at Veli will be upgraded under the second phase of the programme, the KSEB said.
