Strawberry Fields from November 23

Staff Reporter

It marks the culmination of NLSIU’s annual fest, LeGala

Platform for talent: A band performing at ‘Strawberry Fields’.

BANGALORE: With 10 years of music to its credit, hundreds of bands that have performed under its fold and the magnetic pull it exerts on thousands of music lovers every year, “Strawberry Fields”, one of the biggest college rock fests in the country, has the right to call itself “a slice of history”.

With everything from blues to jazz, to good old rock ‘n’ roll and metal, “Strawberry Fields” is back to enthral all those who live for music.

The fest is the culmination of the National Law School of India University’s annual fest, LeGala, which is sponsored by The Hindu MetroPlus.

The preliminary rounds of the music fest will be held on November 23 and 24. The finals will be on November 25 on the NLSIU campus.

The days leading up to the finals will truly reflect the spirit of the three-day bash. “Strawberry Fields” is an occasion that is highly anticipated by bands who want the “played at Strawberry Fields” stamp and by those who want to soak in the musical ambience.

One of the reasons could be that original music is always encouraged at the fest, which prods bands into developing their own sound instead of copying somebody else’s.

Thermal and a Quarter, Angeldust, Antaragni, Moksha, Motherjane have all made their mark at the fest.

After it came to be recognised as a platform for aspiring bands, bands such as Medicis from Puducherry, Bhayanak Maut from Mumbai, Junkyard Groove from Chennai, Mojo from Shillong, Threinody and Kryptos from Bangalore, joined the bandwagon.
