Tax adalat mops up Rs.4 crore

KOCHI: The Commercial Taxes Department resolved about 4,000 pending cases and mopped up an estimated Rs.4 crore from Ernakulam district at a mega adalat held here on Tuesday. Two hours before the adalat came to a close, the officials had issued 3,638 orders.

The one-day adalat wa held at the Town Hall as part of the ‘From Walayar to Ernakulam’ project initiated by the Finance Department.

The list of offices, number of cases disposed, revenue involved, order issued (at 4 p.m.): Special Circle – 1, Ernakulam (324, Rs.28.66 lakh, 261), Special Circle – 2, Ernakulam (282, Rs. 44.78 lakh, 205), Special Circle – 3, Ernakulam (369, Rs. 88.40 lakh, 263), Works Contract, Ernakulam (214, Rs. 28 lakh, 143), Ist Circle, Ernakulam (276, Rs. 50.56 lakh, 231), 2nd Circle, Ernakulam (169, Rs. 5. 30 lakh, 160), 3rd Circle, Ernakulam (240, Rs. 9.72 lakh, 194), 4th Circle, Ernakulam (263, Rs. 8.58 lakh, 229), Ist Circle, Kalamassery (129, Rs. 25.03 lakh, 68), 2nd Circle, Kalamassery (369, Rs. 16.69 lakh, 294), Ist Circle, Tripunitura (136, Rs. 5.17 lakh, 121), 2nd Circle, Tripunitura (251, Rs. 14.01 lakh, 199).

Citizen’s charter

Finance Minister Thomas Isaac said that a citizen’s charter would come into effect from December 1 onwards.

Majority of the forms for tax payment could be downloaded from the website to check corruption and speed up clearance of pending cases. Registration would be given to traders on the fourth day of the registration.

Live certificate would be issued within 15 minutes. The receipt for monthly returns would be issued at the time of submission.

For work contractors, 20-B certificate would be issued within 24 hours.
