Saket MLA Vijay Jolly NEW DELHI: With the construction of the much talked about High Capacity Bus System corridor between Ambedkar Nagar and Delhi Gate leading to a traffic chaos and accidents, Saket MLA Vijay Jolly on Tuesday said such projects are not meant for big and densely populated cities like Delhi and it was therefore “ill-conceived”. Addressing a press conference, Mr. Jolly said the Delhi Government had erred in taking up this project which was a colossal waste of public money and insisted that the entire project be reviewed. “It is a killer pathway and danger lurks at every corner on this 14.5-km corridor,” he charged. The MLA claimed that professional inputs had not been incorporated but rather ignored on this controversial project. “An inquiry is required into the unprofessional handling of the project and the name of the consultant and contractor and the consenting authority should be made public,” he said. Demanding a “White Paper” on the HCBS system, Mr. Jolly said the recent statement of RITES Managing Director V. K. Aggarwal that no detailed project report was prepared for this project was `”shocking”. Worse still, he said, the implementation of the project had not only greatly inconvenienced the commuters, the poor handling had led to three deaths and several accidents. With the project leading to a lot of expenditure by way of cost-overruns and wastage of man-hours, Mr. Jolly demanded that it be reviewed in totality.
