Return to your homes: CPI(M)

Staff Reporter

Kolkata: Reiterating its call to the people of Nandigram to return, secretary of the State committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) Biman Bose said the party would not prevent anyone from going back home.

“Those who have still not returned can contact the administration if they are facing any problem,” he said while officially commencing the despatch of relief material for the people of Nandigram here on Tuesday.

“Our party will not prevent your return. If any of us tries to hinder you from getting back, then we will sever relations with them,” he said.

The relief material would be distributed to all homeless, irrespective of political and ideological affiliations. “We will not judge the political colour of the individuals or families [while distributing relief].” The relief materials included winter clothes, blankets and utensils. Food items such as wheat, rice and spices have already been despatched. A medical team had also left for Nandigram.

Mr. Bose said the process of rebuilding the houses that were burnt or destroyed had started.

The People’s Relief Committee would oversee the execution of the relief work, Mr. Bose said.
