NEW DELHI: London Mayor Ken Livingstone, who is on a visit to the city, travelled on the Delhi Metro on Tuesday. Accompanied by Managing Director of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation E. Sreedharan, Mr. Livingstone travelled from Central Secretariat to Rajiv Chowk.

“Mr. Livingstone was very impressed with the Delhi Metro and said he would like to build several such systems in London,” said a DMRC official.

The Commissioner of London Transport, Peter Hendy, who was also present, described the Delhi Metro as an extremely remarkable project, taking note of the fact that the DMRC is building about 120 km in just three years.

Dr. Sreedharan presented a photograph taken during the visit of Prince Charles in October 2003 to Mr. Livingstone as a souvenir.
