ALAPPUZHA: The Kerala Latin Catholic Association (KLCA) Alappuzha diocese has decided to observe a ‘black day’ in the district on Thursday against the “violent behaviour” of the police during a protest march of the association here on Wednesday. Addressing a press conference, KLCA office-bearers said the association had organised a march and a ‘shayana pradakshinam’ to protest against the delay in completion of the Chethi bridge and diversion of tsunami funds. Though the march had permission from the District Superintendent of Police, police officials arrested the agitators as soon as they began the ‘pradakshinam’ and also manhandled a few office-bearers, KLCA alleged. Hunger strikesThe Association would also conduct processions and hunger strikes from November 23 in support of the relay ‘satyagraha’ announced by the Chethi Coastal Development Forum.
