Staff Reporter
Diety taken around mada streets Procession held once in a year
TIRUMALA: The most auspicious Sri Vaishnavite ‘Kaisika Dwadasi’ festival was on Wednesday observed at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara, amidst religious fervour.
The processional deity of Lord Ugra Srinivasa was taken around the mada streets of the sacred shrine in a grand procession in the wee hours. The procession of Lord Ugra Srinivasa is observed only once in a year on Dwadasi day.
Apart from observing special rituals inside the main temple, the temple management also had altered the timings of various rituals being performed inside the temple. The festival, which till Tuesday was confined only to the hill temple, was however observed in all the 23 districts in the State covering almost 118 Dalitwadas this year.
