Stray dogs killed

DAVANGERE: A large number of stray dogs were killed here on Wednesday.

Stray dogs that were caught from different extensions and brought to the corporation premises were administered injection. However, a dog which gave birth to six puppies on the corporation premises on Tuesday, was let free after many people opposed its killing. The expert dog catching team was under severe pressure to let it go. Corporation officials had this time taken all precautions and decided to put the dogs to sleep through injections instead of placing poison at designated points. The change in strategy had come about owing to consumption of poison by children of a slum instead. The children however, responded well to treatment.
