Staff Reporter

“Government constantly upgrading facilities at educational institutions”

PUDUCHERRY: Minister for Education and Information Technology M.O.H.F. Shahjahan on Wednesday said that the government had plans to allocate more funds for the department.

Speaking at the inauguration of the regional level science exhibition at the Jeevanandam Government Higher Secondary School at Karamanikuppam here, he said the government was constantly upgrading facilities at educational institutions and wanted to improve the quality of education provided to children.

“Since quality human resource development is the need of the hour, we have to plan and work towards that. We want to make modern classrooms in government schools with better facilities. We are studying as to how this could be done at the primary level and will soon sign an agreement with the Azim Premji Foundation for this,” Mr. Shahjahan added.

The Minister, while stating that the quality of education in government schools has improved, commended teachers who put their heart and soul into getting better results each year.

Vice Chairman of the Puducherry Municipality A. Johnkumar, local MLA Om Sakthi Sekar and Joint Director R. Vanjulavalli also spoke.

Exhibits selected at the regional level exhibition would be sent to the State level Science Exhibition that would be held at Mahe from November 28 to December 1. The regional level science exhibition is the first phase of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition for children.
