All-out attack: The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa addressing members of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s BBMP unit during a protest in Bangalore on Wednesday.

BANGALORE: The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Wednesday said he would write to Governor Rameshwar Thakur appealing to him to cancel the decisions taken by the then Chief Minister, H.D. Kumaraswamy, in his last Cabinet meeting that was held after the Bharatiya Janata Party ministers resigned.

Participating in a dharna organised by the party’s Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike unit here against the “betrayal” of the Janata Dal (Secular), Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that irregularities to the tune of thousands of crores of rupees had taken place in the manner in which important decisions had been made by Mr. Kumaraswamy after the BJP ministers resigned.

“The Janata Dal (Secular) is now raising objection to the clearance given by the Cabinet headed by me for some pro-farmer and pro-poor programmes. But taking advantage of the en masse resignation of BJP ministers, they have given clearance to programmes worth thousands of crores of rupees only with selfish interests,” he alleged.

He ridiculed the proposal by Mr. Kumaraswamy to float a new political outfit and said nobody would trust him now. The Janata Dal (Secular) was scared that a large number of its loyalist legislators would migrate to the BJP. Hence the party was now playing the cards of launching a new party only to hoodwink its legislators and leaders, he said.

He denied the claims of Janata Dal (Secular) president H. D. Deve Gowda that the BJP was ready to sign a Memorandum of Understanding regarding conditions on the stamp paper. “It is not in the culture of the BJP to sign such an MoU on stamp paper,” he said.

“Mr. Kumaraswamy should not forget that it was I who made him Chief Minister and not his father,” he said.

He said people of the State would teach a lesson to the Janata Dal (Secular) in the State.

Terming Janata Dal (Secular) leaders Kumaraswamy and H.D. Revanna as greedy, Mr. Yeddyurappa said Mr. Revanna was obsessed with the ministerial portfolios of Public Works and Energy while Mr. Kumaraswamy was bent upon keeping the Mines and Urban Development portfolios. “But what is their achievement in their pet portfolios?” he asked.

Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that even the Congress had a role in the Janata Dal (Secular) going back on its words to support his government during the motion of confidence in the Legislative Assembly.

The party activists burnt the effigies of Mr. Kumaraswamy and Mr. Deve Gowda on the occasion.
