Manipal: The Manipal University and the United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) on Tuesday renewed their memorandum of understanding (MoU) to continue with the Fulbright-Pai fellowships for the next five years. Chancellor of Manipal Univesity T. Ramdas M. Pai and Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi, Adnan A. Siddiqui, signed the MoU. Executive Director of USEFI Jane E. Schukoske, Pro-Chancellor of Manipal University H.S. Ballal and Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University Rajashekaran P. Warrier were present. The USEFI was established in 1950 under an exchange programme between India and the U.S. to administer Fulbright fellowships to Indian and American faculty, researchers, teachers and professionals, fresh graduates and students. The Fulbright programme supports education and cultural exchange between the people of the U.S. and other countries with the goal of promoting mutual understanding. In addition, the USEFI is a source of higher education in the U.S. Mr. Adnan Siddiqui and Prof. Jane Schukoske are here to attend a conference organised by the USEFI on “Fulbright programme in South Asia-Evolving contemporary fields for Fellowships” from November 20 to November 22. Over 55 participants in the conference, including American Fulbright scholars in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, Fulbright alumni in India and Fulbright Commission staff from India, Nepal and Sri Lanka, are participating in the conference.
