All the five new courses are self-financed ones The courses are designed as per the present job scenario BERHAMPUR: More than a century-old Khallikote Autonomous College of the city would start five new self -financing courses in collaboration with Heritage Vision Education Trust. The institute has already signed up a MoU with the Trust to start sessions of these new courses from next month. The Heritage Trust would manage these courses which would be conducted at the campus of the institute. This autonomous college is already running self financing courses in Biotechnology, Computer Science, PG Diploma in Information Technology and MCA. Principal of the institute, L.K. Patnaik said the five new courses would begin now have been designed keeping the view the fast changing professional world. It includes two five-year-long integrated PG courses. One of them would be in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication and the other would be PG course in Risk and Retail Management. A two year PG course in Finance and Control (MFC), a three year degree course in Business Administration (BBA) are also in the list of new courses. Making profitsTo cash in the recent rise in demand for accountants with computerised accounting, the institute plans to start a one year advanced diploma in Computerised Accounting and Taxation with 128 seats. Mr. Patnaik is hopeful that the course would draw several persons including professionals in the field of accounting. On the sports frontKhallikote Autonomous College won the men’s and women’s title in the inter-college Table Tennis tournament of the Berhampur University that concluded at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mohuda on Wednesday. The two day tournament was conducted by the Sports Council of the university. In the men’s event, the team from Khallikote Autonomous College defeated the MKCG medical College to become champion. The girls from the Khallikote Autonomous College repeated the feat by defeating Mahamayee college team to lift the women’s title. The secretary of the Sports Council of the Berhampur University, Prof. Subash Chandra Parida handed over the trophies to the winning teams. Table Tennis is yet to pick up in big way in south Orissa due to lack of infrastructure at educational institutes for this game. This was 39th inter-college event of the sport for men’s conducted by the university. But it was for the 17th time girls of colleges of the university were meeting for an inter-collegiate tournament. Prof. Parida said plans are on to develop infrastructure for table tennis in all major colleges in near future.
