NEW DELHI: Zero Hour, which normally witnesses acrimony, saw lighter moments in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday when Communist Party of India member D. Raja was called “Democratic Raja” and Telecom Minister A. Raja “Affectionate Raja.” Soon after Mr. D. Raja ended his submission demanding immediate announcement of minimum support price for paddy, V. Narayanaswamy (Congress) said Mr. Raja was neither a farmer nor was he concerned about the plight of peasants. When members sought to know which Raja he was referring to because Mr. A. Raja was also present in the House, Mr. Narayanaswamy said he was referring to Mr. D. Raja. At this, Sitaram Yechury (CPI-M) said the CPI leader’s initial actually meant “Democratic.” A member then said in that case, the Telecom Minister’s initial stood for “Affectionate.”
