Ivana Furtado in the lead

Antalya (Turkey): Ivana Furtado, the reigning World under-8 girls champion, is leading in the u-8 section with four points in the fourth round of the World Youth chess championship.

After Ivana, J. Mohana Priya was the second Indian to garner full four points in this round. Two more Indians are expected to join the list of winners with four points each.

Kiran Manisha Mohanty was defeated in the fourth round of the under-18 girls. But Mary Ann Gomes is poised to win her game and continue to lead in the u-18 category.

At close of play on Tuesday night, 10 Indians were leading with full three points in seven sections.

For the second day running S.P. Sethuraman is playing a fellow Indian on the top board of the u-14 boys section. On Tuesday he had beaten N. Srinath.

On Wednesday, Sethuraman outplayed Vidit Gujrathi from the black side of a Catalan and was two pawns up in a rook and minor piece ending. Friday is a rest day.
