DEVOTINAL DISC: Chief Minister N. Rangasamy releasing the audio CD on Manakula Vinayakar in Puducherry on Thursday. PUDUCHERRY: Listening to slokas about the 16 different Ganapatis, including Shodasa Ganapati, Bala Ganapati, Sakti Ganapati, Dhwaja Ganapati, Veera Ganapati, Heramba Ganapati, Maha Ganapati and Ucchista Ganapati brings good things to your home. “Which is why we have included the Sri Manakula Vinayakar Suprabhatam by Neelakanta Sharma that contains slokas on the Shodasa Ganapati in a CD,” said Ms. M. N. Nair, who has brought out an audio CD, titled ‘Arulmigu Sri Manakula Vinayakar.’ Chief Minister N Rangasamy on Thursday released the CD at a function here at the Sri Manakula Vinayakar temple. MLA S. P. Sivakumar received the first copy. D. Venkatesan, Executive Officer, Manakula Vinayakar temple was also present on the occasion. Later, Gopakumar, Ms. Nair, Sudhavalli, Saipriyadarshini and Gomathi, who have lent their voices to the songs in the CD, presented a live music programme. The CD contains suprabhatham, Pillayar Agaval by Avvaiyar, Karpaga Vinayaka Kadavule Potri by poet Subramania Bharathi, four songs in praise of the Lord, a kummi, a Kavadi Chindu and concludes with a Mangalam. The suprabhatam has been set to tune by Srirangam Ranganathan and the rest of the songs by Ramanathan. Ms. Nair was a casual artist at the Puducherry All India Radio Station and has sung light music, folk songs for the past 30 years.
