Police getting ready to prevent Maoist attacks
Staff Reporter
Kakinada: The police are warming up to the fresh task of preventing the Maoists from intensifying their conflict with the former during the People’s Guerilla Week to be observed from December 2.
The Maoists have been keeping the police engaged, particularly in the border areas of East Godavari and Visakhapatnam districts and the extremists appear to be in no mood to relent. The series of incidents of exchange of fire between the police and Maoists mirror the tense situation prevalent in Agency areas of the district.
Arrangements
The extremists have reportedly made elaborate arrangements for the next month’s event in Agency areas. The police are anticipating a renewed offensive by the Maoists, which could divert their (police’) attention from the guerilla week celebrations.
Therefore, combing has been intensified throughout the Agency areas and along the district borders where the Maoists are said to be gaining strength.
