Kanipakam temple set to get a face-lift

Chittoor: Sri Varasiddi Vinayaka Swamy Temple in the small village of Kanipakam in Irala mandalis gaining popularity with every passing day by attracting a large number of pilgrims from across the country, said Kesavulu, Temple Executive Officer and Joint Commissioner.
Talking to The Hindu, he said the village, a small gram panchayat, 15 km. from here, is struggling to meet the floating requirements of devotees. As such, the temple administration has initiated several measures to meet the growing demand of pilgrims, he said. As part of this, it had acquired 41 acres at a cost of Rs.1 crore and is implementing the temple master plan by constructing several buildings.
In this regard, the Annadhanam complex is built for serving food to 500 pilgrims on a daily basis, with the contribution of philanthropists. Similarly, a shopping complex is constructed to provide necessary articles to pilgrims. Two Kalyana Mandapams are built to be rented to devotees for performing marriages. Likewise, two chowltries are constructed to accommodate pilgrims.
It proposes to construct 4 VIP cottages. Rajagopuram would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 80 lakh, besides laying 100-ft road to the temple from four sides, said Mr. Kesavulu.
