Rajasthan pavilion does business worth lakhs

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan pavilion at the India International Trade Fair at Delhi’s Pragati Maidan has registered business worth Rs.32 lakh, including Rs.10 lakh earned by the pavilion’s nodal agency – Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation. A variety of handicraft items on display are attracting visitors in large numbers to the pavilion.

An official release here on Thursday quoted Pavilion Director Ravi Agrawal as saying that saris and textiles of Kota doria, Bagru and Sanganeri prints have been very popular among the visitors. Barmeri print bed-sheets, pillow and cushion covers and readymade garments are also attracting buyers.

“It is not only the trade, but also the trend, that is alluring the visitors to the pavilion,” said Mr. Agrawal. The pavilion has displayed hand-made furniture of Shekhawati, Udaipur and Jodhpur as well as traditional ornaments of Meenakari and Thewa arts.

The pavilion has made special arrangements for display of skills of master crafts persons and artisans of the State. The lightweight multi-coloured Jaipuri quilts are also an attraction for those visiting the pavilion.
