CPI (M) leader murdered

NALGONDA: Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Bonta Sreenivasa Reddy (39) was allegedly murdered by his political opponents at Mukundapuram of Munagal mandal on Thursday.

A group of seven persons travelling in a car waylaid Reddy, who was going to his village on a two-wheeler, and attacked him with knives and sickles. He died on the spot, according to the police. Two persons, who were with the victim, sustained minor injuries. The deceased is survived by his wife and two sons.

Mr. Reddy was the president of the DYFI’s Kodad division as well as the chairman of Agricultural Cooperative Society of Tadwai. The CPI (M) activists staged a dharna demanding arrest of the murderers.The CPI (M) district secretary called for a bandh on Friday.
