dated November 23, 1957: Light cars

The Minister for Industry, Mr. Manubhai Shah, stated in the Rajya Sabha on November 21, that the Government would consider the question of regular manufacture of Baby Hindustan and Bay Fiat cars only when the progress of the Hindustan ‘Ambassador’ and Fiat ‘1100’ respectively was found to be fully satisfactory. The Hindustan ‘Ambassador’, the Fiat ‘1100’ and the Standard ‘Vanguard’, which were of the general types of light cars, were already approved for indigenous manufacture.
