Louis leads the way for St. Albert’s

KOCHI: St. Albert’s College, thriving on Paul Louis’s 16 points, won the Mahatma Gandhi University’s North Zone inter-collegiate basketball championship beating Rajagiri School of Management 58-51, at the Rajagiri Engineering college on Thursday.

The results: Final: St. Albert’s (Ernakulam) 58 (Paul Louis 16, Kerlin Roy 10) bt Rajagiri School of Management (Kakkanad) 54 (Vinik Jose 16, Bonny Anto 10, N.P. Shibas 12). Semifinals: Rajagiri 61 (Bonny Anto 24, M. Vinik Jose 16, Shibas 10) bt Sacred Heart (Thevara) 31 (Aravind K. Balan 13, Jacob 10); St. Albert’s 61 (Vishnu S. Nair 15, Kenlin Roy 14, Paul Louis 11) bt Rajagiri College of Engineering (Kakkanad) 32 (Paul Chakola 12, Jose Paul 12).

Quarterfinals: Sacred Heart 45 (Jacob 18, Mathew Antony 15) bt Bharatha Matha (Thrikkakara) 29 (Favaz 24).

Nibu strikes thrice

Nibu Kurien fired in three goals as host and defending champion Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School drubbed Greets (Kaloor) 7-1 and marched into the semifinals of the fourth Assisi Cup inter-school football tournament at Chembumukku on Thursday.
