Focus on knowledge management
Finally the Military has joined the bandwagon of ‘Knowledge Management’. Comparing knowledge management to art, chief guest, Lt. Gen. J.K. Mohanty said that fighting in a war is both a science and art.
The science is well known, documented and practiced.
But it is the ‘art’ that makes the difference, he said at a seminar organised by the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering recently.
Officers who participated in the event emphasised that Knowledge Management helped avoid unnecessary work duplication, expensive reinvention and repeated mistakes.
It can help in retention of expertise and help in real time situations -- a practice adopted by many multinational companies.
