Young performers impress at The Hindu Young World Fest

BANGALORE: The second day of The Hindu Young World Fest 2007 saw the preliminary rounds of group dance and group music competitions. The youngsters impressed the judges with their talent and finesse.

“You hardly get an opportunity to watch quality classical group dance presentation as all the dancers must have the same standard of proficiency. Here, it was a joy to watch children perform. I am amazed by their talent and they gave excellent performances,” said a judge.

The valedictory function will be held on Friday at 2.30 p.m. with former Minister Rani Satish as the chief guest and international billiards and snooker player Pankaj Advani as guest of honour.

The fest, sponsored by Canara Bank, encapsulates the interests of Bangalore’s young people who are hip without abandoning their traditional mores. A solo dance performance by young “Michael Jackson” Pradeep Paul, a student of KLRS Patel Ramareddy School, will find space along with a classical dances by students of Chitkala School of Dance trained by P. Praveen Kumar, and by Ameya trained by Chitra Chandrashekar Dasarathy.

There will be special dance presentations by the students of Ebenezer International School and also by Prithvi and Ree Diwan.

The following teams have been selected for the finals, which will be held on Friday. All the teams have to report at the venue by 9.30 a.m.

Group dance (Indian folk): Max Muller Public School, Mahalakshmi Layout; Mirambika School, JP Nagar; Poorna Pragna Education Centre, Indiranagar; SSB International School, Indiranagar; and Maruthi Vidya Kendra, Tumkur.

Group dance (Indian classical): Sri Aurobindo Memorial School, Banashankari; Sri Vani Education Centre, Basaveshwaranagar; Venkat International Public School, Rajajinagar; Sri Vani Education Centre, Magadi Road; and SBM Blossom School, Kanakapura.

Group music (Indian light): Venkat International Public School, Rajajinagar; Sri Vidya Mandir Higher Primary School, Malleswaram; Mirambika School, JP Nagar; Sri Vani Education Centre, Basaveshwaranagar; and SBM Blossom School, Kanakapura.

Group music (Indian classical): Sri Aurobindo Memorial School, Banashankari; Sri Vidya Mandir High School, Malleswaram; Sudarshan Vidyamandir, Jayanagar; SJR Kengeri Public School, Kengeri; and SBM Blossom School, Kanakapura.
