IN CYBERSPACE: Minister for Housing Benoy Viswom launching a website at the office of the Housing Commissioner on Thursday. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A website aimed at analysing, developing and propagating modern ideas in the field of housing technology has been launched by the Housing Commissionerate in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday. The website www.hsgcomr.kerala.gov.in, hosted and maintained by the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology, promises to provide invaluable information to the public on a number of aspects related to the housing sector. Some of the areas that will be dealt with on the website are various housing schemes of the State and Central governments and other agencies, low cost building plans, houses for primitive tribes, residences for the E.M.S Parppida Padhathi, trends in population growth, details of municipalities and corporations, sample surveys, copy of the Apartment Ownership Act 1983, details on new building rules, prevailing market rates of important building materials, rates of interest of various financial institutions offering housing loans, achievements of housing agencies, links to other websites related to housing, and drafts of housing and habitat policies of the State and Central governments. The users also have a separate section to post their feedback to the Board. Minister for Housing and Forest Benoy Viswom, who launched the website at the office of the Housing Commissioner here on Thursday morning, described the online venture as “a right step in this era of communication technology.” At a closed-door meeting attended by the officials of the Housing Board, the Minister lauded the employees for their services despite “financial constraints” experienced by the board.
