Warming up in winter
In one way or the other, winter influences people from all walks of life. It also throws up certain images, which become quite ubiquitous during this time in Hyderabad.
To avoid the early morning chill, ‘milkwallah’ and the ‘paperboy’, make all out attempts to cloth themselves fully.
Spotting security guards and GHMC workers warming themselves from the embers of a small fire becomes a common sight. A thick layer of fog enveloping the national highway, Osmania University campus, Necklace Road and Tank Bund is a common sight.
The ice cream vendor suddenly morphs into a ‘chaiwallah’. The cold and dry conditions also bring in health related ailments but the forthcoming Christmas season and the year-ending revelry rounds-off the season.
