Man arrested for killing daughter

VIRUDHUNAGAR: In a shocking incident, a man killed his three-month old daughter by smashing her against the wall.
According to police sources, S. Shivakumar (27) of Vivekandanda Nagar in Sivakasi was infuriated when his wife S. Mathangani (22) refused to give him money for consuming liquor. Having learnt that his wife got money under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Assistance Scheme, he threatened to kill the baby if she refused to part with the amount.
During the course of a heated argument, Shivakumar grabbed the baby and threw it against the wall. Realising that the baby died on the spot, he threw it into a nearby tank. Locals caught the accused red-handed and informed the police. The Vembakottai police arrested Shivakumar.
