‘Regularise now or never’
Krishnappa Poojary, commissioner, Mangalore City Corporation, said about 60 per cent of the buildings in Mangalore had violated the bye-laws and needed to be regularised under the latest regulations of the Government.
Addressing civil engineers here on Wednesday, Mr. Poojary said barring a few families, owners of a majority of buildings had deviated from the plans or violated the by-laws.
The new provisions for regularisation had been introduced keeping public interest in view.
People should make best use of it. “It is a now-or-never situation. Building owners who fail to comply with it will face serious consequences,” he said.
