ADILABAD: Dipping mercury has ushered in severe cold conditions in Adilabad that affected normal life over the last few days. The lowest temperature of the season, 8 degrees Celsius was recorded on Friday. Even day temperature plunged to 17 degrees Celsius on Thursday. A blanket of fog envelops Adilabad town early in the morning every day.

Such conditions are likely to prevail over the coming few days, say scientists. The cold will leave its effect on the Rabi crops like black gram and bengal gram in terms of restricting growth, according to T. Pradeep, Head and Principal Scientist at the Agriculture Research Station, Adilabad.
