NEW DELHI: A vintage car rally, “Heritage Hill Drive”, was organised by the Automotive Heritage Trust and flagged off from Le Meridien here on Friday. The drive, which took place for the second year in succession, was flagged off by former Army Chief J. J. Singh.

Over 25 classic and vintage vehicles graced the road for the event. They included, among others, Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Cadillac, Ford, Buick and Austin. The inter-State vintage car drive will be traversing through Delhi, Karnal, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab before terminating at picturesque Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh.

Sponsored by Silverton Motors and in alliance with SOS Children’s Villages of India, the event was organised with the aim of generating awareness about underprivileged children in the country and raising resources for the same cause.

SOS president S. Sandilya said: “We are overwhelmed by the continued support of our benefactors. We believe that with support from many good people we will be able to expand our work, reach out to many more children in need and bring them under the care of our Trust.”

Dimpy Kapoor of Silvertone Motors said it was a matter of great honour to organise an event for the sole purpose of charity. “We have always been supportive of such events and this was also an opportunity for car enthusiasts to get an eyeful of vintage cars.”

NGO behind the rally

SOS Children’s Villages is a non-profit, non-government organisation committed to the care of children in need. The objective of the organisation is to help children in distress by giving them a family, a home and a strong foundation for a secure life.
