Door-to-door campaign to open bank account

NAMAKKAL: The district administration, in association with the banks, would carry out a door-to-door campaign to distribute application forms for opening a bank account, Collector G. Sundaramurthi has said.
He was speaking at a meeting organised here on Wednesday to discuss about the total financial inclusion programme aimed at making banking services available to all the people. He pointed out that opening a bank account was essential as the financial assistance extended under various government schemes were disbursed through the banks. People could avail various financial services if they had a bank account.
The administration would involve Valarkalvi coordinators, National Service Scheme student volunteers, Makkal Nala Paniyalargal, NCC cadets, members of self-help groups and members of voluntary organisations in the campaign. The district has 111 branches of various nationalised banks and 32 branches of cooperative banks, he said.
