BJP wants quota details announced

Correspondent

CHIKMAGALUR: The general secretary of the State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party, C.T. Ravi, MLA, has said that his party will stage protests if the Government does not announce the pattern of reservation for the posts of presidents and vice-presidents of civic bodies in the State.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, Mr. Ravi said that a meeting of BJP candidates who had been elected to civic bodies would be held in Bangalore in December.

They would meet Governor Rameshwar Thakur and urge him to get the reservation list.

Stating that the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy did not heed his party’s request to announce the pattern of reservation, he said presidents and vice-presidents of urban local bodies should have assumed power within a week of elections and municipal councils started functioning in a fortnight.
