JD(S) meeting on November 29

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: To strengthen the party for the expected mid-term elections for the State Legislative Assembly, the Janata Dal (Secular) has decided to convene a meeting of its office-bearers and other front-ranking leaders at the Palace Grounds here on November 29.

The meeting will also chalk out an agitation programme to counter its former coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party’s yatra, Janata Dal (Secular) spokesman Y.S.V. Datta said in a press release on Friday.

The BJP has decided to mount a “blistering campaign” against the Janata Dal (Secular) from November 26 to inform people on the acts of “betrayal” by the Janata Dal (Secular). The BJP has been alleging that former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda’s outfit was responsible toppling the first BJP Government in the State.

It was a preparatory meeting in the direction of strengthening the party under the leadership of the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Mr Datta said.

The meeting would be attended by presidents of district units, legislators, former MLAs, MPs, local body representatives and heads of other wings
