THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Accountant-General V. Ravindran has termed “baseless” the striking employees statement that outsourcing the work for processing the documents for one-rank one-pension scheme was the reason for the strike. Mr. Ravindran said in a statement here on Friday that the Accountant-General’s office had taken the work under compulsion from the State government. As per the conditions laid down for taking up the work, there was an attempt to entrust the data entry work to Keltron for Rs.7 lakh in compliance with the government directive. This was dubbed as outsourcing by a section of the employees and they went on strike. He refuted the claim that the Audit and Accounts Association had offered to provide 200 volunteers for completing the work. Only 165 employees came forward to take up the work and 30 employees agreed to sign an agreement that the work would be done in June this year itself, he said. Mr. Ravindran said he had deputed 40 employees for the work, but the strike had affected its progress. He called upon the association to settle the issue amicably.
