BHOPAL: A Reliance Fresh outlet falling under the Hanumanganj police station area of old Bhopal was damaged on Thursday afternoon by Bharatiya Janshakti workers led by the party president Uma Bharti. An angry mob of Bharatiya Janshakti workers went on the rampage hurling stones and smashing with lathis the exterior of the Reliance Fresh outlet while its shutters were down. Fury unleashedThe protesters unleashed their fury while Ms. Bharti continued to address a roadside crowd and raised her voice against the Reliance outlet. She was heard directing her party workers to throw stones and smash the outlet. She was categorical in cautioning the agitated workers to ensure that no one from the public or the police got injured. Reliance Industries Limited Group vice-president Farhan Ansari said he would be assessing the damage and meet the local authorities. He refused to comment further. Local residents questioned the role of the police saying that they remained mute spectators and did nothing to prevent the mob from damaging property.
