This Day That Age
Representatives of Communist parties from 64 countries have signed a joint manifesto in Moscow appealing to the peoples of the world for peace, it was announced in Belgrade on November 22. Tanjug, the official Yugoslav news agency, said talks on outstanding questions of the present international situation were held in Moscow from November 16 to 19. Yugoslavia was among the countries which signed the “Peace manifesto”, the agency added. The manifesto said: “We, representatives of the Communist and workers parties, fully aware of our responsibility for the fate of peoples, declare: “War is not inevitable. War can be frustrated, peace can be protected and solidified.” It added that the people of Europe, America, Asia, Africa and Australia “know that man has released such huge forces of nature and mastered such powerful means that their destructive action could be let loose in every corner of the earth.”
