Corrections and clarifications

It is Taslima Nasreen (as given in the Editorial “Behind the Kolkata violence”, November 23, 2007), and not Taslima Nasrin as mentioned in the heading, text, photo caption and box item of the lead story “Taslima Nasrin sent to Jaipur” (November 23, 2007, page 1), a second report “I revise my statement: Biman Bose” (November 23, 2007) and a third report, “Army patrols Kolkata streets” (November 23, 2007).

It is Biman Bose, as given in the heading and text of a report “I revise my statement: Biman Bose” (November 23, 2007), and not Biman Basu (as given in the Editorial “Behind the Kolkata violence”, November 23, 2007).

In a report “PMK seeks adequate representation for OBCs in government jobs” (Tamil Nadu, November 23, 2007, page 8), the name of social activist Swami Agnivesh was misspelt as Swami Vignesh.

The heading of a report (November 22, 2007) was “LIC policy can be rejected for suppression of fact: [Apex] court”. It is incorrect. What the court has said is that the claim under the policy can be rejected, and not the policy which has already been accepted. The heading should have been “Claim under LIC policy can be rejected for suppression of fact: court”.
