Osman does the star turn for MAHS

HYDERABAD: Centre-forward Subhan bin Osman scored five goals, including a hat-trick, to fashion Moulana Azad HS’s impressive 9-0 win over Gurunanak HS (Ramanthapur) in the fourth inter-school hockey tournament for the V. Purushotham Memorial Trophy here on Friday.

The other scorers for MAHS were Omer bin Anwar, Sufiyan bin Hannan, Wajid Khan and Md. bin Salam.

In another match, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Public School (Ramchandrapuram) recorded an emphatic 5-1 win over Mamata HS. For the winner, Sambha Reddy (2), Mushtaq, Dilip Reddy and Dev Rennet were the scorers, while K. Sridhar reduced the margin.

SBH, SCR in title clash

EME Centre got a walk-over as Hyderabad Globe failed to turn up in the super league match of the SAAP Premier League prize money football championship.

After the conclusion of the super league, State Bank of Hyderabad topped the table with 11 points with three wins and two draws from five games.

South Central Railway stood second despite scoring similar points but having lesser goal average.

Narrow win for Karvy

Karvy recorded an eight-run win over The Hindu in the Corporate Premiership cricket tournament organised by Sports Unlimited.

The scores (quarterfinals): Karvy 150 for seven (Sanjeev 48) bt The Hindu 142 for seven (Shailender 45 n.o.); Coca-Cola 71 lost to Wipro 72 for two; Techpoint 131 for eight lost to GE Money 132 for five (Mushtaq Ahmed 40, S. Kalyan 59).

NMDC 157 for four (Murali Krishna 55, Patwa 46) bt Bank of America 152 for nine (Shafi 40).

Bridge tournament

Chaitanya advances

At Visakhapatnam, Krishna Chaitanya had a narrow 9-7 win over Monish in a third round match in the under-12 category of the KAD Tennis Academy annual junior tournament here on Friday. Sai Sreesh prevailed over Sridarsh 9-8 in the under-10 event but lost to Arjun Patnaik in the next round.
