KOCHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi have the ‘political maturity’ to lead the country by taking along the different coalition partners without confrontation, Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affiars Vayalar Ravi has said. He was speaking after presenting the Mohammed Abdurehman Sahib award to noted industrialist M.A. Yousuf Ali. He said that socialism was not merely forcible takeover of wealth from the rich. Socialism could be achieved despite resorting to market economy by taking the initiative to disburse the proceeds of economic growth in an equitable manner, he said. The UPA government had taken that initiative by ensuring 100 days of employment for the rural poor, he said.
