District will forgo Rs. 12.5 crore for incomplete proposals Proposals reached the ZP only two days ago Sangareddy: The Medak district Planning committee which met here on Friday has approved a plan outlay of Rs. 24.52 under the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF). Zilla Parishat chairman M. Balaiah addressing the members said that the district has sent proposals to the tune of Rs. 24.52 crore keeping in view the development needs of the district. However the legislators cutting across party lines objected the manner in which the proposals were sent for approval without consulting them. Harish Rao pointed out that the district would forgo Rs. 12.5 crore as the proposals sent for approval are incomplete. Legislators Suresh Shetkar, Sasidhar Reddy, Sunitha Laxma Reddy, Padma Devender Reddy, Ramalinga Reddy and MLCs R. Satyanarayana and Bhoopal Reddy found fault with the authorities for not informing them about the preparation of proposals. Responding to the volley of questions raised by the perturbed people’s representatives the Chairman explained that the request for proposals only reached the ZP two days ago and the people’s representatives could not be contacted in time to seek their advises. He assured that no region in the district would be deprived of funds for development. Addressing the committee the district Collector B. Venkatesam said that Medak is one of the 13 districts selected for the BRGF programme. The Collector said that the district has a chance to receive Rs. 10 crore under the programme as the funds are allocated basing on the population and the area of the district. However a higher amount has been quoted by the District planning committee for over all development of the district. ZP Chief executive officer Suresh Babu was also present.
