Civic staff plea for ownership of dwelling units to occupants

TIRUCHI: The Tiruchi Corporation Employees’ Association has appealed to the government and the Corporation to transfer the ownership of dwelling units at the Malaiyadivaram quarters to the sanitary workers who are currently occupying them.

In a memorandum, association president S.Alphonse Raj said the quarters were allotted to a group of sanitary workers by the erstwhile Golden Rock Municipality. The huts were converted into tiled houses by 1971 and many of the sanitary workers have since retired from service. The ownership of the houses should be transferred to the occupants now, he demanded.
