Colourful rally marks the eve of Telugu Bhasha Brahmotsavaalu

TIRUPATI: It was a riot of colours that splattered across the streets here on Friday when an impressive procession was taken out as a prelude to the literary fete ‘Telugu Bhasha Brahmotsavaalu’.

In what could be termed as the most resplendent of processions in the city this year, the rally was actually meant to promote the nine-day literary fete on Saturday.

Traditional art and dance forms representing various regional folklore like Budabukkalu, Jangamdevara, Pallesuddhulu, Garadi, Kommukoya, Puliveshaalu, Thappetagullu, Garagalu, Guravayyalu, Nandikotla, Tholubommalu, Yakshaganam, Buttabommalu etc. formed part of the impressive procession, that lasted for over four hours.

Tribal drummers and percussionists gave a pulsating performance with ‘Dolla Vinyasam’, ‘Urumulu’ and ‘Dappulu’, the sound waves of which reverberated all along, while bubbly youth of ‘Katthisamu’, ‘Karrasamu’ and ‘Veeranatyam’ performed martial arts.

B.Karunakar Reddy, Chairman of the TTD and also head of Telugu Samskruti Vikasa Vedika, which is spearheading the movement to rejuvenate Telugu and revive the literary traditions and art forms, led the procession along with the TTD Trust Board member O.V.Ramana, Executive Officer K.V. Ramanachary, Joint Executive Officer G.Balaramaiah, TUDA Chairman C. Bhaskar Reddy and Vice-Chairman P. Mohan Reddy and others. The literary meet, to be attended by the who’s who of the Telugu literary landscape and Telugu film industry will be inaugurated on Saturday by A.B.K.Prasad, Chairman of the Official Language Commission.
