Three arrested in kidnap case

CHENNAI: Three persons were arrested on Friday on charges of kidnapping a Malaysian national and demanding ransom after taking the foreigner to an undisclosed destination.
Police said that Mohammed Ali (37), Jafarullah (33) and Mohammed (32) of Triplicane had allegedly whisked away the Malaysian national from a hotel in Neelankarai.
On information, Commissioner of Police G. Nanchil Kumaran formed a special team and in a swift operation, the foreigner was rescued.
Preliminary inquiries revealed that the Malaysian national allegedly owed some money to the accused and the non-settlement resulted in the kidnap, police said.
The Neelankarai police have registered a case.
Further investigation is on.
