IED defused

Jammu: Police on Saturday averted a major tragedy by detecting and defusing an Improvised Explosive Device near the railway track in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The IED was detected by a patrol party about 100 metres north of the railway track in Barwal village, the police said.

The area was immediately cordoned off and a bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot to defuse it, they said.

There was no disruption in the movement of railway traffic when the IED was being defused. — PTI
