Siva Teja bags first prize in junior category In seniors, B. Sirisha has won the first prize
Proud moment: Management consultant and trainer M C Das with winners of The Hindu-Young World on-the-spot painting contest-2007 at NSM Public School in Vijayawada on Sunday. — VIJAYAWADA: Painting is an ancient art that can be used as an effective tool by the artist to usher in social change, says management consultant M.C. Das. Addressing a function organised to give prizes to the winners of The Hindu Young World Painting Competition –2007 at N.S.M. Public School on Sunday, Mr. Das said in addition to a deep sense of satisfaction derived from his creative works, a painter had the advantage of standing out in the crowd. In sharp contrast to the glut of talent in other fields, good painters were only a few in numbers across the world, he pointed out and urged the participants to keep their minds young. Regional General Manager of The Hindu, Vijayawada, K. Chandrasekharan said the contest was aimed at bringing out the innate talent in children at a very young age. The 395 participants were categorised into juniors and seniors and the ten best paintings in each of the categories were given the first, second and third prizes in addition to seven consolation prizes. Among the juniors, A.M.R. Siva Teja, a seventh class student from Sri Vidyavan - The Concept School at Mummidivaram in East Godavari district, bagged the first prize. Nongthombam Roshan of seventh class in K.C.P. Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School at Kanuru in Vijayawada, came second, while V. Kalyani, a seventh class student from D.A.V. Public School at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada got third prize. Consolation prizes were given to Suman Mohapatra and T. Vijay Kumar, seventh class students from Atomic Energy Central School at Manuguru, Aswapuram in Khammam district, I. Raja Sekhar, a sixth class student from Vidya Vikas (E.M) School at Avanigadda in Krishna district, A.S.S. Sai Likhith of seventh class from Spoorthi Creative Art School, Vijayawada, N. Sai Ganesh, a sixth class student from Sri Kakatiya High School at Marutinagar, Vijayawada, Ch. Tejasvi, of fifth class from Spoorthi Creative Art School, Vijayawada and K. Sathwika of seventh class from St. John’s Public School at Autonagar, Vijayawada. In seniors, B. Sirisha, a tenth class student from Sri Krishnaveni Talent School at Patamata, Vijayawada bagged the first prize, V. Hemanth, also a class tenth student from Atomic Energy Central School, Khammam came second and K. Sravani of ninth class from Buds & Blossoms School, Vijayawada, got third prize. Murali Krishna of ninth class from Akshara International School, Vijayawada, D. S. Darshanik of eighth class in Atomic Energy Central School, Khammam, I.V.L.N.P. Amarendra, a ninth class student from Sindhu School, Narsaraopet, Prabantak Nandy of eighth class from K.C.P. Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School, Vijayawada, S. Chinmai, a ninth class student from Sri Aditya Public School, Ongole, Shaswat Shukla of ninth class from Atomic Energy Central School, Khammam and Praveen Khwairakpam of eighth class from K.C.P. Siddhartha Adarsh Residential Public School, Vijayawada were given consolation prizes. All the participants were given certificates and snacks.
