Krishnagiri: A total of 8,77,148 voters (4,46,521 men and 4,30,627 women) are there in the district in the draft photo electoral rolls published for all the five Assembly segments in the district recently, Collector Santhosh Babu has said. The total number of voters in the draft photo electoral rolls in the Assembly segments is as follows: Hosur 2,42,622 (1,27,159 men and 1,15,463 women), Thally 1,46,666 (76,382 men and 70,284 women), Kaveripattinam 1,57,522 (78,301 men and 79,151 women), Krishnagiri 1,61,790 (80,139 men and 81,651 women), Bargur 1,68,548 (84,470 men and 84,078 women). Mr. Babu said that voters who did not have Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) may affix two passport size photographs in Form 001B and submit it in respective polling stations. The Election Commission has banned the submission of bulk applications. Voter or his or her family members should only apply for inclusion. Voters can also apply online through the following website www.ceotamilnadu.nic.in. Special camps were held on November 24 and 25. The camp will also be held on December 2 for inclusion of names at 478 polling booths in Krishnagiri district. Officials would verify the details in the forms submitted for inclusion from December 9 to 24. The district administration has initiated steps to include the names of all eligible voters in the draft photo electoral rolls with January 1, 2008 as the qualifying date. The Election Commission has appointed 367 booth level officers for carrying out verification in the photo electoral rolls. Steps will be initiated to issue EPIC to all voters at the respective taluk offices in the district from January 2008. The Collector has asked voters to appear in person before the village administrative officers with proof of residence and photographs to get their EPIC. Voters who have lost their identity cards can remit Rs.15 and get a duplicate card from the taluk concerned headquarters. The enumerators will verify the genuineness of the applications and would create a database for lamination. The final electoral roll would be published on January 11, 2008, Mr. Babu added.
